Thanks to my roommate for introducing me to the show Dexter on the night the new season premiered, I am now obsessed!

I am halfway through season two and it’s amazing, I can’t believe I didn’t discover the show sooner!

Who knew you could fall in love with a serial killer. :D

(by the way, this is what we’ve been doing every night, watching Dexter as we eat dinner haha)

I still can’t process the fact that this happened on Friday, after 9 years of waiting I finally got to see McFly!

And to believe this almost didn’t happen at all! I tried to get tickets the days they went on sale but I wasn’t fast enough and they sold out quick. I didn’t even know I was going until three days before the show, when a friend came through and got them for my sister and I. We had to wait to pick the tickets up from the box office on the day of the show, so it didn’t even feel official until we had them in our hands at 2pm.

We decided since we were going to see McFly we would do this right. We decided to take the day off from school and woke up really early so we could wait in line at 7am, so we could get a good spot in the crowd. After waiting in line for about 10 hours I saw McFly’s van drive up to the venue entrance. They were in a blacked out van and you could only see shadows waving at us so it was still very hard to believe they were really here.

At 7pm they finally let us in and we got a really good spot right in front of Danny with only two or three people standing in front of us. I was really surprised we were able to get so close because there was a good 30 people in line before us and about 65 people had a jump-the-line pass.

Anyway, when McFly came on stage it was so un-real, I was literally crying! I couldn’t (and still) can’t believe I was looking at all of them in the flesh and not on my computer screen. They were absolutely amazing, even better then I had always imagined they would be. It’s so hard to describe how I felt, I don’t even think the people that know me well could even imagine the feelings that washed over me when they walked out onto that stage! All the videos I’ve watched of them over the years are true to who they are. You could tell they love to perform, you could see the excitement in all their faces, and how sad they were that this was there last show in America. They are such amazing guys, when they walked off stage we all started singing Falling in Love so Danny came back on and sang it for us. After I looked at the set list and they were supposed to sing Walk in the Sun. Seriously what other band would do that for you?!

Sam and I waited outside after the show to try to meet them, but they never came out to meet fans, but I guess I’ll have that to look forward to in there next visit.

Everything worked out perfect, and it was honestly one of the best days of my life! :D

These four guys have been a huge part of my life for the past nine years. They have always been my favorite and there is no other band I’d rather see live more then them. I’ve grown up with them and they are a part of who I am today. Seeing them live would only make my love for them grow, to see the faces in person of the band that strongly impacted my life would be an honor. I’ve waited patiently throughout the years wishing on birthday candles and stars to go to a McFLY concert. I’ve dreamt about it for so long and finally they are ~~coming~~ here in America… and I couldn’t get tickets. Until a few hours ago, my Mom told me a family friend was able to get them for my sister and I for this Friday! We cried and danced up and down around to McFLY songs. This feels so surreal and exciting, I can’t believe I have my chance to be that crazy fan girl in the ‘Five Colors in Her Hair’ video! My dream is finally coming true and I don’t have to fly 3,000 miles to England for it. (Although one day I will)

Started to make some slight progress toward those goals I had for the summer. Currently working on refining my personal logo for my business card.

I’ve been prolonging this all summer, to be honest I’ve been enjoying my free time way to much. I haven’t had any form of real responsibility for the past two months since I’m not in school or working. So I’ve been sleeping in late and hanging by the pool with a book most days. Resulting in reading a total of 9 books so far this summer! Including the Hunger Games and the 50 Shades of Grey trilogies. Both of which I enjoyed very much.

But schools not to far away and if I want to start and get my work out there I should start soon rather then later.

For my packaging design class we had to design packaging for a line of chocolate. I wanted to go for something high-end with a very unique feel. The chocolate bar I decided would be of a triangle shape and I based the whole packaging around that idea.

Summer is here!

I haven’t been blogging much and now that school is over for the summer I shouldn’t have an excuse.

Two weekends ago I went to Bamboozle. It was the first weekend I had were school wasn’t on my mind, and it was the first time I hadn’t felt stressed in what felt like forever. It’s exactly what I needed to end a rough year. Being able to relax, enjoy time with my friends and listen to great live music on the beach; I couldn’t really ask for much more!

The following monday was the last day of class and after I enjoyed some drinks with our class. We went to a bar nearby and spent six hours just chatting and enjoying the free time we all have been looking forward too. I’m gonna miss this talented bunch but I know we’ll never loose contact with one another. We have spent an entire year together, going through the same stressful assignments and pain in the ass professors but we made it out alive, with the support and help from one another.

It feels good to have finished the 1 year program for the AAS degree in Communication Design and the next day I celebrated by attending graduation. It was so great to have my mom, dad, brother, grandmother’s, aunt and uncle their to watch. Next semester I’ll be returning to FIT to begin working towards my BFA in graphic design.

So now that I’m home I haven’t really done much besides enjoying my freedom. I’ve been reading a lot, I’ve read one Nicholas Sparks book already and is halfway through another. Sleeping in is nice and waking up to only relax in the sun and enjoy the pool is good too. I just hope I don’t make a habit out of this because there were goals I had for the summer, and I don’t want to blow them off either. :)

I finally got rid of the PC that had been sitting on my desk, without use for the past 3 years. I got this computer in Febuary 2005, used it all though high school and the start of college. It needed to go, since I got my mac I hadn’t even turned it on, and it was running very slow.

A while ago I went through everything on it just to make sure there wasn’t anything that I wanted still on it and it was so weird seeing things I did back in high school. There were images, documents, and memories on there that I had completely forgot about. Silly stuff too, like html codes I saved from myspace layouts I would spend hours creating, of course back then I had no idea what I was doing lol. My desktop wallpaper was an old, but back then recent picture of McFly. About 100 Image of my favorite bands I saved for a reason I cannot remember now. Pictures with friends I’ve never put on CDs and stupid AIM messages we had. It was definitely funny to look back on those things and that time of my life. :)

As a class assignment we had to create symbols that represent crimes in the environment. I choose to focus on the problems of littering along beaches and in oceans and how it effects the critters of the sea. By replacing their shells with garbage I am showing how these creatures have to adapt to the environment we have forced them to live in.

Bamboozle ups and downs

In exactly one week I’ll be almost done with school (hopefully stress free at this point because most of my classes will be over) and I will be enjoying a fun filled weekend in Asbury Park for The Bamboozle Festival. I can’t wait to enjoy the weather and beach, listen to great live music, and have a blast with my friends! I’m a little worried about missing the band I want to see on friday because I still have to go to class, but hopefully I can scoot out as quick as possible to grab the earliest train to Asbury Park. Amour For Sleep will be playing a farewell show so if I miss it I will be devastated.

I’m also extremely sad about Blink 182’s drop from the line-up. They were 90 percent of the reason I was going this year. What makes it worse is tickets are almost double the price then previous years because of the new location and extra stuff they have planned, and there are very few bands I really want to see. But I understand that they had legitimate reasons for dropping, health comes first and if the truly could go on they would. My Chemical Romance will fill in for them and although I’m not a huge fan of them, I’m still a fan and will be great full to see them. I’ll make the best of it and I know it will be a great end to this stressful school year and a great start to the summer! :)
